Elisapie Isaac: There Will Be Stars

"There will be Stars” is the new work of Inuk singer, composer, filmmaker Elisapie Isaac. This, her first solo recording, is the much anticipated follow up to the internationally acclaimed, award winning duo Taima which she co-founded with guitarist / composer Alain Auger in 2001.

“There will be Stars” is not so much an album as a seduction from somewhere distant, somewhere other worldly. Sometimes full of joy, sometimes lined with melancholy, at times pop, at times folk, at times sung poems from the north - is it Polar pop? Arctic Electric? New cool? Elisapie Isaac was born of an Inuk mother and a Newfoundland father. She was adopted at birth by an Inuit family and was raised in the isolated community Salluit, Nunavik - the Great North.

Firefox To Make History, About To Surpass IE in Europe

August has arrived. Time for a browser market share update. There is quite a bit of news this month, which, depending on your view, can be modified in virtually any direction you prefer. Microsoft likes the version in which IE has gained market share and pushed back Firefox and Chrome. Mozilla may like the one that embarrasses Microsoft and shows that it is about to overtake IE in Europe and Google will most likely state that there is a very good chance that it has now more than 10% of the market. Which one do you prefer? Pick one.

Defeating Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle

A quantum memory may be all scientists need to beat the limit of Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, according to a paper published in Nature Physics. According to a group of researchers, maximally entangling a particle with a quantum memory and measuring one of the particle's variables, like its position, should snap the quantum memory in a corresponding state, which could then be measured.

BP Suspends Recovery of Gulf Oil After Ship Fire

June 16, 2010 - BP Plc said it temporarily stopped collecting oil from its leaking well off Louisiana after a fire aboard the collecting vessel, allowing petroleum to again spill unhindered into the Gulf of Mexico.

There was no damage as a result of the fire, which was put out “within a few minutes,” said Robert Wine, a BP spokesman. Oil recovery was shut down as a precaution at about 10:30 a.m. New York time and is expected to resume today after equipment inspection and safety checks, Wine said.

Here in the UK people are looking to save the environment and well the planet really I guess and by making all of the cars in the UK electric powered we would certainly be doing the world a massive favour but I just do not think this is ever going to happen. Security Guards: Boom time for South Africa’s Security Companies

Has the world gone mad? I read the other day in one of the daily newspapers that Private security companies in South Africa, had been applying, in vast numbers, for extra gun permits. Now I know the football equivalent to the ‘barmy army’ will be on their way, but that’s ridiculous. This apparently is due to the ever-mounting fear that something nasty is going to go down during the World Cup.
