June 6, 2008 - The Brazilian army has reported today having found the first bodies of victims of the Air France 447 disaster which occured last Sunday when the Airbus 330 traveling from Brazil to France crashed in the Atlantic for currently unknown reasons.
The bodies belong to two men and have been found along with some personal effects: a leather bag containing an Air France ticket and a backpack. Both luggages wore identification tags and the registration code of the airplane ticket has veen confirmed by Air France as belonging to a passenger of the missing flight, although no name has been communicated yet.
Air force officials announced the news in Recife, Brazil. The items were discovered 420 miles north of the Fernando de Noronha islands, 220 miles off the northeast coast of Brazil.
It is not clear where the plane crashed, since ocean currents likely caused the bodies and debris to drift in the six days since the crash.Read full article »
