We all love to go on holiday, but nobody really considers where the most dangerous places to go on holiday in the world are. We are going to skip Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq, purely because they are in a warzone! Not really considered a destination to go on holiday, even for the maddest of people in the world. We can rate them buy the need for a personal protector and the amount, let’s give it a score out of ten!
Let’s start off with an easy one, Somalia. Probably even more dangerous than it used to be, because of our value as people. Kidnappings have become more frequent and more aggressive over the past 10 years, with ransoms climbing. Even ordinary people are being kidnapped and extortionate amounts of money being demanded for their release, be careful here!

Colombia is another warzone, although not as aggressive as Iraq, kidnappings are quite popular here as well. Unlike Somalia, these guys are more likely to kill you if your partners don’t pay up. In 1998 there were more than 2000 kidnappings, and out of them 138 were murdered. They set very targeted and straight demands, pay up or don’t get out. Colombia is also ranked around 4th in the world for murder rates, with about 70 people in every 100,000 being murdered. Not really all that pleasant, but the countryside is beautiful!

This next one is a little different, but is known for some holiday makers. The Antarctic, not known for many kidnappings or murders, but better known for that fluffy white stuff, what is it… Oh yeah snow (also known as white death here). Walking through temperatures below minus 60 degrees isn’t going to be all that pleasant, so proceed with caution. This is one of the most hostile environments on the planet (second is the Atacama Desert).
Body Guard rating: 1.5/10 (gives you something to eat)
An interesting last entry, that will probably stir up some arguments is in the Caribbean. Trinidad and Tobago are two separate islands, but have been voted the most likely place to get killed on holiday. The murder rate for tourists here is higher than anywhere else in the world. If you want the best chances of survival here, make sure you stay with your resort and only travel around with a local, and one that the hotel recommends!
Body Guard rating: 8.5/10
